Special Program Features

♦ Integrated Cohort

If you are selected, you will move through all four semesters of the program as a group of 12 students (six US, three French and three German), traveling from Germany, then to France, and finally to the USA. Learning, working, and studying together, you will develop deep friendships, professional networks, and an appreciation for each other’s culture, language, talents and skills.

♦ Travel Stipends

EU and US students may receive a stipend from the U.S. Department of Education or the European Commission during the year they are living overseas. Eligible EU students must be citizens of the European Union or third-country nationals who had been legal residents in the European Union for at least three years (and for the purpose other than study) before the start of the outgoing mobility. Eligible U.S. students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. European students may also receive an Erasmus grant for living in the other European country.

♦ Language Support

You will receive language support in German, French, and English with native language speakers and teachers at the beginning of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd semesters in the host country, and throughout the program at each university.

♦ Fieldwork

You will work alongside editors, researchers, designers, and other relevant professionals in companies, labs, firms, and/or governmental agencies in France.

♦ Research Internship

You will apprentice and conduct research with public and private enterprises on visualization problems in the USA and use the work for your master’s thesis.

♦ International Support

You will receive continuous support from each university’s Office of International Programs. This includes access to all university services and assistance with visas, insurance, housing, extracurricular activities, etc.
